REDD Has Never Been Easy, But It’s Too Important to Not Make It Work

Keeping forests standing is one of the most readily accessible and cost-effective ways to fight climate change. Verra has always held that REDD+ is a critical component of addressing climate change, and so the difficulties must be tackled with rigor and integrity.

Verra-Hosted Events

Tuesday, September 23

  • Time: 4:30–5:30 pm ET
  • Host: Verra
  • Location: Convene 360 Madison Avenue, New York, NY
  • Verra staff: Mandy Rambharos, chief executive officer

The integrity of carbon markets is often subject to the same familiar critiques, yet the conversation rarely acknowledges how far the system has come. This candid, forward-looking session tackles the toughest questions head-on, including discussions on infighting that slows progress, the outdated divide between voluntary and compliance markets, the use case for carbon credits, the market’s financial stability, the rigor of project reviews, and more. These debates are being resolved through stronger safeguards, transparency, partnerships, and governance. The real elephant, however, is the lack of scaled demand, and this conversation will reframe market integrity not as a distraction but as the foundation for mobilizing the buyers needed to deliver climate impact at scale.

This event is part of IETA’s North American Climate Summit (NACS) (external). Participation is open to those registered for the NACS.
