We are writing with a few updates about Verra’s Plastic Waste Reduction Program (Plastic Program):
Revised Plastic Waste Recycling Methodology
The Plastic Waste Recycling Methodology, v1.1 was released on 30 June. This revision expands the scope to include chemical recycling activities and will broaden recyclers’ access to finance through Plastic Credits.
Revised Plastic Waste Collection Methodology
The Plastic Waste Collection Methodology, v1.1 was also released on 30 June. This revision impacts the landfill criteria included in the methodology.
Call for Experts for Verra's Plastic Program
Do you have expertise in specific geographies, plastic waste collection activities, or plastic waste recycling activities? Consider serving as a resource for validation/verification bodies (VVBs) approved for Verra’s Plastic Program as they review projects in various regions. We are currently inviting applications from qualified individuals.
Reminder: Plastic Project Review Timelines
We would like to remind project proponents of the steps and timelines for review processes with Verra’s Plastic Program. This information is important to estimate the time it takes to register your project or issue Plastic Credits. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Verra Welcomes Komal Sinha as Director of Plastic and Sustainable Development Policy and Markets
Komal will lead on Verra’s Plastic Program policy engagement and market development efforts in her new role.
Lastly, we’re pleased to share that Verra’s Plastic Program team plans to resume site visits in the coming months. This will be a great opportunity to see how projects apply Verra’s Plastic Program rules and how VVBs audit these projects on the ground.
