Dear Colleague,
Welcome to Verra’s June Newsletter!
We are pleased to announce that the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) recently approved the first set of methodologies that meet its Core Carbon Principles (CCPs), including two methodologies that are active in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program. CCP labels may now be applied to Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) from projects using methodologies that are eligible in the VCS Program and that have been approved by the ICVCM.
This news closely followed the U.S. government’s public statement that a high-integrity voluntary carbon market is pivotal to financing climate action.
As in our May newsletter, we are again featuring several methodology-related announcements, reflecting Verra’s broader commitment to continuously updating and strengthening our methodologies. Specifically, this issue includes the latest updates on our Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation methodology; one of our Improved Forest Management methodologies; and our new rice cultivation methodology.
We also extend a warm welcome to Anil Vinayak, our new chief financial officer, who just joined Verra. Anil will work closely with Verra’s leadership team to solidify and strengthen the organization’s financial tools, transactional capabilities, and overall financial portfolio.
Finally, we’d like to bring to your attention that we have added a “New Resources” section in this newsletter. It includes recordings of recent interviews with Verra staff as well as new program-related materials that you may find useful.
