  • Protect important habitat corridors for a number of endangered and vulnerable species, including the spectacled bear and nine endangered species of amphibians.

Alto Mayo Conservation Initiative

Emission reductions achieved during monitoring period (15 June 2016 – 14 June 2018): 1,028,498 tCO2e
Benefits achieved during monitoring period (15 June 2016 – 14 June 2018):

  • Reduced deforestation on an additional 2,600 ha of forest, for a total of over 17,000 ha protected over the lifetime of the project.
  • Protected habitat for 18 critically endangered and endangered species, including the giant otter, upper Amazon stub foot toad, and white-bellied spider monkey.
  • Distributed more than 2,000 benefit packages aimed at improving living conditions and economic diversification to local communities.
