Verra has published updates to its building weatherization methodology in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program. VCS Methodology VM0008 Weatherization of Single-Family and Multi-Family Buildings, v1.2 constitutes a minor revision to version 1.1 of the methodology, following a public consultation that ran from December 12, 2024, through January 13, 2025.
VM0008 quantifies the greenhouse gas emission reductions that result from the weatherization of dwellings and the implementation of energy efficiency measures in single-family homes, multi-family buildings, or mobile homes. Examples include improved air sealing, enhanced insulation, and replacements of refrigerators or air conditioning units.
The revision expands the methodology’s scope to include heat pumps and heat pump water heaters.
