Verra has published a Request for Proposals (RFP) (PDF) (methodology development ID #M0192) for an expert or team of experts to conduct a technical assessment of Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program Methodology VM0001 Refrigerant Leak Detection, v1.2. This is a revision of VCS Methodology VM0001 Infrared Automatic Refrigerant Leak Detection Efficiency Project Methodology, v1.1, and it was developed by Therm Solutions, Inc. (external) and Verra.

VM0001, v1.2, which is currently open for public consultation, seeks to expand the list of leak detection technologies to include alternative sensors and software-based leak detection, broaden the scope for global applicability, and simplify the approach for determining the maximum leak rate allowed for crediting (known as a cap baseline).

The previous version, VM0001, v1.1, applies to project activities that install infrared, real-time leak detection systems on commercial refrigeration equipment systems in the United States to reduce leaks of hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants.

For more information on the scope of work, deliverables, timelines, and requisite skills and qualifications, please see the RFP.

Please submit application materials by close of business on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, to methodologies@verra.org with the subject “Proposal for expert assessment of VM0001 Refrigerant Leak Detection, v1.2.”
