Development ID#

M0333

ACM0002 applies to grid-connected renewable energy generation project activities—including solar photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, hydro, wave, and tidal—that may or may not involve Energy Storage Systems (ESS).

The proposed revision to ACM0002 includes the following updates:

  1. Introduction of a list of eligible countries for project implementation for various renewable energy technologies (specifically solar photovoltaic, geothermal, and onshore and offshore wind) that replaces Table 1 of the VCS Standard. This change would broaden the geographical applicability of this methodology (to hitherto underserved regions) and promotes the installation of renewable energy technologies in regions where it is crucially needed, thereby catalyzing the clean energy transition.
  2. Replacement of key CDM tools (TOOL01, TOOL02, TOOL05, and TOOL07) with their new VCS counterparts (VT0008, VT0009, VT0010 and VT0011, respectively). Once this revision is published, project proponents must use it in conjunction with the latest version of ACM0002 as it is still applicable in its majority (apart from the revisions).

Summary of Development

This revision follows an alternative process, per Section 2.1.2 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.4 (PDF). Verra is leading and authoring the methodology revision. The draft methodology is currently at “Step 4: Public Stakeholder Consultation” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF).

The consultation for this proposed revision (M0333) is open from June 26, 2025 to July 28, 2025. Verra is accepting feedback through its digital public consultation platform, which is hosted on the Verra Project Hub. Comments may be submitted electronically via the online form by 11:59 pm Anywhere on Earth (UTC-12) on July 28, 2025. If you experience issues using the digital public consultation platform or have feedback on it, please contact hubsupport@verra.org.
