Draft Methodology
VM0043, v1.0 is applicable to project activities that use waste CO2 as a feedstock in the production of concrete.
The proposed minor revision to VM0043 enables project proponents to differentiate between Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) based on whether they are GHG emission reductions or carbon dioxide removals.
The revision also includes the following suggested updates:
- Integrating a discount factor to account for uncertainty related to the displacement of the production of virgin materials caused by project activities (in alignment with the August 2023 VCS Program updates).
- Expanding the methodology’s scope to allow its application to pre-cast products
- Incorporating a correction (PDF) regarding the calculation of baseline emissions, issued on October 9, 2023

Verra is leading the development of this minor revision, following an alternative process, per Section 2.1.2 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.4 (PDF). The draft methodology is currently at “Step 3: Draft Methodology Development” of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process v4.4 (PDF).
