Welcome to Verra’s June Newsletter!

We are excited to share that the new Verra Registry will go live on Monday, July 27!

This is a much-awaited development, as the new registry will reshape the experience of every user interacting with Verra. Built to scale a growing global carbon market, the platform combines a modern interface, integration with the Verra Project Hub, and powerful new technology that improves transparency, traceability, and efficiency across the carbon credit lifecycle.

In other big news, we also recently certified the first government-led jurisdictional forest carbon program under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program’s Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) Framework. The program is led by the Government of the Province of Misiones and covers approximately 1.5 million hectares of native Atlantic Forest in northeastern Argentina. The registration of this program marks a significant milestone for carbon markets and governments seeking to align forest conservation with access to international climate finance.

We look forward to discussing these news items and other topics in more detail next week at London Climate Action Week. We hope to see many of you at the June 24 event we are cohosting with S&P Global Energy and Xpansiv, “Building What Comes Next in Carbon Markets,” as well as at the many other sessions we’ll be speaking at and attending throughout the week.

Across the United States, 11 million families collectively own nearly 40% of the country’s forest land. Yet many small forest owners lack the technical guidance and financial resources needed to actively manage their land for long-term forest health.

The Family Forest Carbon Program was created to change that. Developed by the American Forest Foundation and The Nature Conservancy, it is the only improved forest management program specifically designed for small landowners.

Through projects like Family Forest Carbon Program – Central Appalachia (Verra Project 3996), participating landowners receive customized forest management plans, technical support from professional foresters, and annual payments to help implement climate-smart forestry practices.
