Verra has joined the Vietnam National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) Innovation and Financing Task Force. Chaired by Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), the NPAP is a nationally led multi-stakeholder platform that aims to turn commitments on reducing plastic waste and pollution into action through facilitating collaboration across government, business, civil society, development partners, and academia.
The Vietnam NPAP Innovation and Financing Task Force will follow NPAP action roadmaps and recommendations to coordinate investment in plastic waste reduction, support the development of innovative solutions, and promote plastic circularity in Vietnam.
As a member of the task force, Verra will participate in regular meetings and workshops and share information about its Plastic Waste Reduction Program (Plastic Program), which provides an innovative mechanism to drive finance to local plastic waste collection and recycling projects.
Further, Verra will provide technical support and capacity-building, enabling stakeholders to leverage Verra’s Plastic Program and Plastic Credits to advance Vietnam’s plastic circularity goals. Workshops in support of this objective can be tailored for a range of stakeholders, including ministries and local governments, as well as plastic waste collection and recycling organizations, industry alliances, domestic and international private sector stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, development banks, and donors.
