Verra has released a “Corrections and Clarifications” document (PDF) applicable to Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Methodology VM0048 Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, v1.0.

The document includes a clarification to align the definition of “forest” with that in the Core Carbon Principles Assessment Framework of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM). The definition of “forest” in section 3.1 of the methodology has been updated to the following: “Forest. In addition to the definition set out in the VCS Program Definitions and the requirements of the VCS Methodology Requirements, for this methodology, ‘forest’ must include woody vegetation with a canopy cover of at least 10 percent, as used in the relevant country’s international reporting to the UNFCCC.”
