This methodology provides procedures to quantify the additional plastic waste removed or diverted from the environment through informal and formal activities, such as waste picking from the environment and installation of waste collection infrastructure, with the objective of preventing plastic waste from remaining in or ending up in the environment.

Version 1.0 of the methodology was put on hold on 30 June 2022. At crediting period renewal, projects will be required to update to the latest version of the methodology. Projects that were registered using the Plastic Waste Collection Methodology, v1.0 must update to the latest version of the methodology at crediting period renewal.
