Verra at Global Plastic Treaty Negotiations in Nairobi
Verra staff will attend the third session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-3) to develop a Global Plastic Treaty to curb plastic pollution in Nairobi, Kenya. Our team will be on the ground from 11 to 18 November 2023. If you will be at INC-3 and are interested in connecting with Verra staff, please email events@verra.org.
Project Case Study
The Deekali Plastic Recovery West Africa: Recycling, Reuse and Community Action project (ID 2720) in Senegal is the first project to be registered in Africa and a Least Developed Country (LDC). As the first project in an LDC, this project illustrates the transformative potential Plastic Credits can have in such regions.

Where in the World Are the Projects in Verra’s Plastic Program?
The Plastic Program was launched with the aim of mobilizing finance for a broad range of plastic waste management activities. There are now 5 registered projects and 40+ other projects that are listed on the Verra Registry and in the process of registering (e.g., preparing for or undergoing validation). Plastic Credits and Corporate Plastic Stewardship Goals
How can Plastic Credits and Verra’s Plastic Program advance corporate plastic stewardship goals? A new section on our website and a new factsheet (PDF) geared specifically to Plastic Credit buyers explain.

Verra Extends Validation Deadline for Plastic Projects
Verra has extended the project validation deadline for projects that have a start date between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2021 and are seeking registration with the Plastic Program.
Submitting a Project Request Soon?
Verra’s Program Management Department (PMD) will be at an in-person retreat from October 31 to November 6, 2023. During this time the Verra Registry system and database will be fully operational, but Verra Registry administrative services will be unavailable, and responses to inquiries will be delayed.
