The methodology for alternative low-carbon fuels for shipping covers project activities that involve using low-carbon alternative fuels in shipping, as drop-in fuels in dedicated ships. This proposed revision to M0191 expands the scope to include sustainably certified biodiesel blends.
Summary of Development
On March 16, 2026, the development of this revision was rejected per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF). After careful review, Verra determined that the proposal’s climate impact was not as high as that of other ideas. Verra will therefore not proceed this approach to the full methodology development process at this time.
