VMD0055 Estimation of Emission Reductions from Avoiding Unplanned Deforestation describes the procedures and methods for accounting for the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions achieved by projects that aim to avoid unplanned deforestation as part of VM0048 Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation.
This new module expands on VMD0055 and incorporates provisions for tree harvesting activities (for timber, firewood, or charcoal production) as an eligible project activity. Once published, both VMD0055 and this new module are expected to remain active under VM0048.

- Verra issued a Request for Proposal (PDF) to select independent expert reviewers between December 2, 2025 to December 16, 2025.
