The proposed methodology quantifies the GHG emission reductions from a shift towards lower-emission foods (e.g., meat/dairy to plant-based options). Specifically, it quantifies procurement changes that result in meal offerings with fewer emissions intensity compared to a performance benchmark.

The proposed methodology is being developed by Verra in collaboration with Eaternity and is currently at “Step 3: Draft Methodology Development” of the Methodology Development and Review Process, 4.2 (PDF).
