Verra is honored by today’s news that it has received two Environmental Finance Awards for 2021:
- Best GHG Crediting Programme for the Verified Carbon Standard
- Best Registry Provider for the Verra Registry
Thank you to everyone who voted. Fundamentally, these awards reflect the trust that you have placed in us, and it’s our responsibility to earn that trust each and every day.
That means updating our rules and requirements to reflect the latest scientific evidence and best practices in order to ensure the integrity of the credits that we issue. That means enhancing our stakeholder support services to ensure prompt and helpful responses. That means positioning the registry as fit for the future. And that means continuing to enhance our internal operations to support the high-integrity scaling of global carbon markets.
To date, 1,733 VCS projects in more than 80 countries have reduced or removed over 750 million tonnes of GHG emissions. But that’s a fraction of what’s needed to help solve the climate emergency. We look forward to moving ahead together with you.

This is the ninth time that Verra’s VCS Program has won the award of “Best GHG Crediting Programme” (formerly “Best Voluntary Carbon Standard”). The Verra Registry has won the award of “Best Registry Provider” in the first year of its operation.
