Overview 
Verra has published two new resources related to Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) methodology VM0047 Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation. These support project proponents using VM0047, as well as the validation/verification bodies (VVBs), in better understanding and applying the methodology’s requirements throughout the project development and review processes.
The resources are as follows:
- The Guidance for Projects Transitioning to VM0047 (PDF) is intended for project proponents who seek to change the methodology of an existing project to VM0047. It supports the interpretation of VM0047’s technical requirements when applying the VCS Methodology Change and Requantification Procedure (PDF) or the VCS Procedure to Change Project Methodology through a Project Description Deviation (PDF) to transition their existing project to VM0047.
- The reviewer checklist (XSLX) supports users in understanding VM0047 and strengthening the documentation they are preparing to submit to Verra. It includes a list of key elements that Verra staff focus on when reviewing a request for registration. Please note that it is not an exhaustive list of elements Verra considers during a project review, and that additional aspects will be taken into account based on project-specific conditions.
Verra intends to release similar resources for other methodologies over the coming months.
