Verra has released the public results from its VVB Performance Monitoring Program (PMP) for project review requests closed during 2025.
The PMP was established to evaluate the performance of validation/verification bodies (VVBs) in conducting audits of projects in Verra’s standards programs. By sharing this information, Verra is increasing the transparency around VVB performance in general and supporting project proponents in making informed decisions when it comes to selecting a VVB for their project.
Verra uses four oversight categories to monitor VVB performance: project reviews, performance observation audits, sanctions and cooperation, and accreditation of body feedback. Verra captures the results of assessments in these categories in individualized scorecards, which are issued to VVBs at least once a year. The publicly available PMP results represent a high-level synthesis of these scorecards.
Stakeholders can review these results either by methodology or category (i.e., projects with broadly similar characteristics, such as land-based projects or energy and industry projects). Either view results in a detailed breakdown that shows high-level statistics about VVBs’ success rates.
The results from the VVB PMP guide Verra in its efforts to help strengthen VVBs’ overall auditing capacity across all Verra programs, ensuring the integrity of Verra projects and the units issued.
Notes:
- If a particular VVB is not listed in the PMP results, Verra does not have any data about relevant project review requests closed during 2025.
- Currently, the PMP results only cover the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) Programs.
