Verra is advancing its multiyear digitalization initiative, a key component in its efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency, streamline processes, and scale up its operations.

Launch of Digital Project Submission Tool

In August 2024, Verra launched the Digital Project Submission Tool on the Verra Project Hub to significantly enhance the project registration process in the Verra Registry. One of the most important ways in which this tool improves this process is by including several methodologies in a digital format.

The digital methodologies facilitate the accurate and streamlined creation of project documents and monitoring reports by using templates to collect all the project details required for a given methodology. A built-in engine performs all the necessary calculations for a given methodology, including computing a project’s emission reductions and removals (ERRs) for a given crediting period.

The tool has a built-in validation logic that checks the consistency and completeness of the project data and allows for quick corrections of incorrect or incomplete data with minimal effort and logs all changes for easy traceability.

The Digital Project Submission Tool also enables validation/verification bodies (VVBs) to access records for their designated projects, create the needed validation and verification reports, and submit them for review by Verra.

New Digital Methodologies

In August 2024, Verra released six methodologies in a digital format on the tool. In October 2024, two more methodologies were added to it, bringing the total number of available digital methodologies to eight.

The digital methodologies underwent extensive testing and piloting before being made available on the Verra Project Hub.

Additional methodologies are currently undergoing User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The full list of digitalized methodologies and methodologies in the UAT process is available on the Methodologies page in the “Digitalized Program Methodologies” section.

New Digital Tools

In the upcoming weeks, Verra will also release the following digital tools and forms to support a more streamlined project development, registration, and review process.

  1. Digital Representations (VCS Representations)
  2. Geologic Carbon Storage Non-Permanence Risk Tool (GCS NPRT)
  3. Digitalized Project Review Report (PRR)

All digital methodologies and tools are available on the Verra Project HubStakeholders able to access the Digital Project Submission Tool (under the menu item “Projects”) automatically have access to the eight digital methodologies listed above.

Stakeholders who do not have access to the Verra Project Hub can access them by submitting a request through the Stakeholder Contact Form.
