Mary serves as Legal Counsel at Verra, where she advises the organization on its legal affairs.

Mary is a qualified lawyer in the UK, with over 12 years’ experience as a legal practitioner and researcher in energy law and low carbon transition. She has worked extensively in the energy and utilities sector, providing a wide range of legal, regulatory and risk management services. Mary’s experience includes advising on a joint venture to export of renewable energy from Scotland to England via a subsea HVDC link and obtaining a European Commission funded research fellowship on the decarbonization of the heating sector in the EU. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh and has an LLM in Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Aberdeen, where most recently she worked as a lecturer in law and remains an associate member of the Centre for Commercial Law.
