Verra has issued a “Correction and Clarification” (PDF) applicable to CDM methodology AM0073 GHG emission reductions through multi-site manure collection and treatment in a central plant, v1.0 (external).

This “Correction and Clarification” is effective as of the document issuance date and applies to all projects under this methodology in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program.

The methodology applies to project activities where manure is collected from multiple livestock farms and the collected material is subsequently treated in a single central treatment plant.

The correction specifies that the average amount of manure excreted per animal per day can be measured at different frequencies (i.e., at least annually), either by direct measurement or by using sampling.

The clarification relates to the determination of the amount of manure excreted per animal and the characteristics of this manure, such as volatile solids and moisture content. The moisture content adjustment must be consistent for all these parameters.

Verra periodically reviews methodologies to ensure, for example, that they continue to reflect best practice, scientific consensus, and evolving market conditions and technical developments; to correct errors; and for other purposes. Verra updates methodologies used in any of its programs at any time if this is necessary to ensure the environmental integrity of the units it issues.
