Plastic Program Fees Changing January 1, 2025

Verra recently released a comprehensive new fee schedule. It includes several changes to fees for the Plastic Program that will take effect on January 1, 2025. Verra at Fifth Session of Global Plastic Treaty Negotiations (INC-5)

Verra recently attended the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5) in Busan (external). Verra supports the shared goal of ending plastic pollution worldwide and the mandate of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) Resolution 5/14 to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, based on a comprehensive approach that addresses the full lifecycle of plastics. Komal Sinha, senior director, government and policy engagement, spoke at a panel on “Extended Producer Responsibility and Other Financing Models for Circularity.”

Upcoming White Paper on Plastic Credits and EPR

Verra recently published a discussion paper on the role of Plastic Credits in supporting inclusive extended producer responsibility (EPR) systems in emerging markets and developing economies. The Plastic Team is currently developing a more comprehensive white paper that builds on the initial discussion paper and analyzes use cases for Plastic Credits across six countries at different stages of EPR maturity. The executive summary of this discussion paper is now available and the full paper will be published early next year, when Verra will also host a webinar to delve into more details about this topic. Please use this form (external) to register your interest in attending the webinar and/or receiving a copy of the white paper.

Verra Joins Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership Task Forces

Verra has joined the Finance and Policy Task Forces of the Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) and will work with local partners to support the transition to a circular plastic economy in Indonesia. The NPAP plans to support the Indonesian government’s target of reducing 70% of the country’s marine plastic debris by 2025 and achieving near-zero plastic pollution by 2040. The NPAP aims to deliver meaningful action on reducing plastic waste and pollution by bringing together governments, businesses, and civil society.

Verra Joins Vietnam National Plastic Action Partnership Task Force

Verra has joined the Innovation and Financing Task Force of the Vietnam National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP). Chaired by Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), the NPAP is a nationally led multi-stakeholder platform that aims to turn commitments to reducing plastic waste and pollution into action. The Innovation and Financing Task Force will follow NPAP action roadmaps and recommendations to coordinate investment in plastic waste reduction, support the development of innovative solutions, and promote plastic circularity in Vietnam.
