This methodology is globally applicable to project activities that use a carbon advisory service to shift the electricity usage of devices from times of high carbon intensity to periods of lower carbon intensity. The time-shifting of consumption patterns from an electricity-consuming device is in response to the advisory service’s calculation of the electricity grid’s real-time carbon intensity. Project activities under this methodology reduce emissions where the carbon intensity of the grid during the actual time of electricity consumption is less than the carbon intensity of the grid during the time that the device would have consumed electricity had the advisory service not shifted the device’s consumption patterns.
