16. Geological carbon storage

This tool provides procedures and requirements to allocate project and leakage emissions for projects eligible under VM0049 Carbon Capture and Storage where non-VCS CO2 (i.e., – CO2 that does not generate credits in the VCS Program) flows through the project boundary. This tool facilitates infrastructure sharing between projects and enables the development of storage hubs.

Please note:

  • On 14 July 2026, Verra released Clarifications to VT0012, v1.0 (PDF).  All projects using VT0012, v1.0 must apply these clarifications.
