Sectoral Scope

1. Energy (renewable/non-renewable)

VMR0011 is a revision to the CDM methodology AMS-I.E.: Switch from non-renewable biomass for thermal applications by the user (external), which applies to project activities that switch from non-renewable biomass for thermal applications by the user. VMR0011 fixes at validation a leakage adjustment factor that accounts for the uncertainty of the fraction of non-renewable biomass and must be used in conjunction with the latest version of AMS-I.E.

Please note:

  • As of October 9, 2024, VM0050 has replaced VMR0006 and VMR0011.
  • Projects seeking to complete registration under VMR0011, v1.0 must have requested listing on the Verra Registry before October 9, 2024, and complete validation by May 31, 2025.
  • Please note, on July 2, 2024, AMS-I.E. was excluded as a standalone methodology. Projects seeking to complete registration under AMS-I.E. as a standalone methodology must have requested listing on the Verra Registry before July 2, 2024, and complete validation by January 2, 2025
  • Registered projects using AMS I.E. or VMR0011 can update past verification periods and requantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions from these periods in accordance with VM0050 and the forthcoming Methodology Change and Requantification Procedure.
  • All projects must use VM0050 starting with the 2027 vintage year at the latest. For projects switching to VM0050 for the 2027 vintage year, the updated project description can be validated and submitted along with the verification and monitoring reports for that year. Such submissions can be made up to five years after the last verification.
