CDM methodology AMS-III.BA. Recovery and recycling of materials from E-waste (opens on external site) is applicable to project activities that collect and recycle E-waste in dedicated facilities with the aim of recovering materials such as ferrous metals, nonferrous metals, and plastics. E-waste contains rare and precious metals that require specific technologies to extract and refine them. These materials are recovered and processed into secondary materials, thus displacing the production of virgin materials, resulting in energy savings and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

This methodology revision integrates a discount factor to account for uncertainty related to the displacement of production of virgin materials caused by the project activity.

Projects must apply VMR0008 in conjunction with AMS-III.BA. The CDM methodology AMS-III.BA. is excluded from the VCS Program for being used as a standalone methodology.

Please note:

  • Projects listed before 4 September 2023 have a grace period until 4 March 2024 to complete validation using AMS-III.BA.
  • Effective 4 September 2023, AMS-III.BA. is excluded as a standalone methodology for new projects. New projects must use VMR0008 in conjunction with AMS-III.BA.
