CDM methodology AMS-III.AJ.: Recovery and recycling of materials from solid wastes (opens on external site) is applicable to project activities that recover and recycle materials in municipal solid waste to process them into intermediate or finished products, displacing the production of virgin materials and avoiding the associated energy consumption. The following materials are covered by this methodology:

  • Plastics: HDPE, LDPE, PET, PVC and PP plastic materials;
  • Container glass cullet;
  • Metals: Aluminium and Steel.

This methodology revision integrates a discount factor to account for uncertainty related to the displacement of production of virgin materials caused by the project activity.

Projects must apply VMR0007 in conjunction with AMS-III.AJ. CDM methodology AMS-III.AJ. is excluded from the VCS Program for being used as a standalone methodology.

Please note:

  • Projects listed before 4 September 2023 have a grace period until 4 March 2024 to complete validation using AMS-III.AJ.
  • Effective 4 September 2023, AMS-III.AJ. is excluded as a standalone methodology for new projects. New projects must use VMR0007 in conjunction with AMS-III.AJ.
