This methodology is a revision to AMS-III.BC.: Emission reductions through improved efficiency of vehicle fleets (external), and is globally applicable to project activities that improve the efficiency of vehicle fleets and mobile machinery (e.g., fleets of trucks, buses, cars, taxis or motorized tricycles, excavators, cranes), resulting in reduced fuel usage and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The methodology quantifies GHG emission reductions from activities that may include but are not limited to, anti-idling devices, tire-rolling resistance improvements, air-conditioning system improvements, low-viscosity oils, cab heaters, and aerodynamic drag reduction measures. It is not applicable to fuel switch activities and measures that improve the system efficiency of the fleet such as changes to operational procedures.

Please note:

  • Projects seeking to complete registration under VMR0004, v1.0 must have requested listing on the Verra Registry before October 4, 2024, and complete validation by April 3, 2025.
  • After October 4, 2024, new projects seeking registration and existing projects renewing their crediting period must use VMR0004, v2.0.
