Verra has inactivated this methodology in accordance with Section 5 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.3 (PDF).

This methodology quantifies the GHG emission reductions and removals generated from both REDD and ARR activities. It addresses localized drivers that lead to mosaic forest degradation and deforestation with a specific focus on India and the South Asian region. It also gives project developers different options to use data that is already available from sources such as nationally accepted forest maps, census and Forest Working Plans (WP) to lower costs of monitoring.

Please Note:
  • VM0037 projects that are listed (or requested pipeline listing) under development must request pipeline listing under validation within three months of the announcement, i.e., before February 27, 2024.
  • Project proponents that have initiated or will initiate a public comment period before February 27, 2024 have until November 27, 2024, to complete validation with VM0037. If they complete validation by then, projects may continue to use it until they have to transition to the new REDD methodology or until their next baseline reassessment or crediting period renewal, whichever is the earliest.
  • Projects validated under VM0037 may continue to use it until they have to transition to the next methodology or until their next baseline reassessment or crediting period renewal, whichever is the earliest.
