Revision to VM0043: CO2 Utilization in Concrete Production, v1.1

The proposed revision incorporates the use of low-value, non-recyclable plastic waste as a substitute for virgin stone aggregate in concrete. The approach is analogous to VM0043’s treatment of CO₂ mineralisation in concrete, with the key difference being that the fossil carbon is contained within the plastic itself, which is permanently encapsulated in the concrete matrix.

On March 16, 2026, the development of this revision was rejected per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF) due to the following reasons:

• Available resources, including funding, Verra staff time, and external expertise, are limited.
• This proposal does not satisfy the criteria under Section 3.1.11 of the MDRP as fully as other ideas.
