ACM0022 applies to project activities that implement and operate new plants for the treatment of fresh waste that would otherwise be disposed of in a solid waste disposal site (SWDS). The proposed revision expands the scope to include:
- Conventional composting and associated N2O emissions as a possible baseline scenario
- Emission reductions associated with using insect composting byproducts to displace high emissions-intensive animal feed products.
Summary of Development
- On March 30, 2026, the development of this revision was rejected per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF). After careful review, Verra determined that the proposal’s climate impact was not as high as that of other ideas. Verra will therefore not proceed this approach to the full methodology development process at this time.
