Module for Quantification of CH₄ Removal via Bark Methanotrophy

The proposed module quantifies and credits atmospheric methane (CH₄) removal mediated by bark-dwelling methanotrophic microbes. The module would complement existing ARR methodologies by introducing a conservative, tiered MRV pathway. Applicability would be global across tropical, temperate, and boreal ARR/IFM projects.

The methodology idea note was submitted by SelvaFlux, Inc.. On April 1, 2026, the development of this module was put on hold per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF).

Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 of 2027.
