Methodology for Vermifiltration

The proposed methodology applies to vermifiltration technology, a nature-based solution for treating wastewater containing organic waste. The technology is used to treat liquid livestock manure, and also industrial wastewater from food and beverage production and sanitary waste. The vermifiltration removes both organic matter and nutrients from wastewater and treats them aerobically. The proposed methodology can be applied to livestock liquid manure or other wastewater applications and is globally applicable.

The methodology idea note was rejected by Verra, as per Section 3.1.7 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.4 (PDF). The decision was based on low climate change mitigation potential compared to other proposals, and potential overlap with current methodologies and associated revisions.
