The proposed methodology applies to project activities where Algae (e.g., Spirulina) and Fungi
(e.g., Mushrooms) are grown, harvested, processed, and sold as a direct substitute for higher-emission protein sources.
Summary of Development
- The methodology was originally proposed by DXN Holdings Bhd and ESG Solutions Sdn. Bhd.(external).
- On April 1, 2026, the development of this methodology was put on hold per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF).
- Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 2027.
