Methodology for Reclaimed HFC refrigerant

The proposed methodology establishes criteria and procedures to quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction from refrigerant management (recovery and reclamation) projects. The proposed methodology applies only to HFCs, and does not address CFCs or HCFCs.

On March 31, 2025, the development of this methodology was put on hold. Verra will consider resuming the development once the following criteria are met:

• Resources are available to support the methodology development process
• There is clear market demand for projects enabled by this development
• The development process can be prioritized over other VCS methodology development work according to the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.4 (PDF).

Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 2026.
