Methodology for life-cycle GHG emission reductions from material-efficient wall systems in buildings

The proposed methodology applies to project activities that quantify greenhouse-gas emission reductions from replacing conventional masonry wall systems with qualifying material-efficient wall panels or blocks. The approach is intended to be technology-neutral and globally applicable, with country-specific baselines. Associated modules would address: (i) raw materials and manufacturing; (ii) freight; (iii) installation, finishing and construction waste; and (iv) building heating and cooling.

• On October 12, 2026, the development of this methodology was rejected per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF). After careful review, Verra determined that the proposal’s climate impact was not as high as that of other ideas. Verra will therefore not proceed this approach to the full methodology development process at this time.
