The proposed methodology quantifies the reduction of GHG emissions that uses a standalone retrofit system to capture and chemically bind CO2, from industrial furnaces, boilers, or any sources of flue gas, with propriety chemicals to form precipitation. The proposed methodology is globally applicable.
Summary of Development
- The methodology was proposed by Pi Green Innovations under an older version of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (MDRP) (PDF).
- In December 2024, the development of this methodology was put on hold.
- In March 2026, Verra reassessed the priority of methodologies under development and decided to keep this proposal on hold.
- Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 2027.
