Jim Cannon
Jim Cannon is the CEO and founder of the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership, where he works to advance sustainable practices in global seafood supply chains.
He has worked on fisheries, forestry, and conservation issues across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. He previously led the economics program and policy center at Conservation International and served on the Marine Stewardship Council’s Technical Advisory Board from 2005 to 2008. In the late 1990s, he edited the UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s World Review of Marine Fisheries.
Jim has advised McDonald’s on fish-sourcing guidelines since 2002 and Walmart on seafood sustainability since 2004. In 2009, he was named Intrafish’s “Person of the Year.” He studied ecology at Cambridge University and environmental economics, management, and fisheries at Imperial College London.
