Overview 
Verra will soon broaden eligibility for its project review prioritization pilot. Under this pilot, projects can have their review requests moved to a priority queue so that the review of these requests is initiated sooner.
Until now, the pilot was only open to projects submitting a second or subsequent verification approval request. Starting on October 14, 2026, projects that are submitting approval requests for registration, verification (any instance), or registration and verification are now eligible to participate in the pilot.
In addition, Verra is implementing the following modifications to the pilot to reduce barriers to participation and streamline the underlying processes:
- For natural climate solutions (NCS) projects, the number of projects that can request to join the prioritization pilot at any given time will be limited. This change will enable Verra to manage its capacity for processing and fulfilling prioritization requests.
- Verra is establishing a dedicated point of contact for prioritization requests to ensure prompt communication and efficient processing of all requests.
Fees for Participating in the Prioritization Pilot
The fees for participating in the prioritization pilot include (1) a prioritization fee, which is based on the volume of the anticipated issuance, and (2) a deposit toward the issuance fee.
With the addition of new eligible review request types as of October 14, the fees are as follows:

Deposit
The required deposit toward the anticipated issuance fee is as follows:
- For NCS/CCBS projects: 50% of the anticipated issuance fee, or $50,000, whichever is less
- For energy and industry projects: 50% of the anticipated issuance fee, or $50,000, whichever is less
Note: These fees are applicable during the duration of the pilot through March 2027 and may be adjusted after that.
About the Prioritization Pilot
Verra first launched the pilot for prioritizing project review requests in late November 2025 for second and subsequent verification approval requests. To date, experience with the initiative has validated stakeholder demand for this option and demonstrated the need to make it more widely available.
The revenue generated through the prioritization fees is being reinvested directly into Verra’s review system and other areas of Verra dedicated to reducing processing times for all projects, not just those that have joined the pilot.
How to Join the Prioritization Pilot
If a project is potentially eligible, a “Request Prioritization” box will appear in the proponent’s Project Tracker list. Clicking on this box will initiate the request process.
