Methodology for the Avoidance of Methane Emissions from the Diversion of High Intensity Organic Industrial Residuals

The proposed methodology applies to project activities involving the diversion of non-hazardous, high-intensity organic industrial residuals from landfill and land application disposal pathways. It specifically targets residuals from the poultry and meat processing, beverage, packaged food, dairy, and industrial fermentation sectors.

• The methodology was originally proposed by Iron Root Development, LLC.
• On April 1, 2026, the development of this methodology was put on hold per the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (PDF).
• Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q1 2027.
