As Senior Director, Verra Registry and Data Management, Breffni manages the Verra registry team and the registry system, focusing on providing Verra’s stakeholders with a world-class platform for realizing meaningful carbon emission reductions.
Breffni was born and raised in Ireland, where he received an MA in Modern Irish History and an MBA. He has worked in the multinational IT sector and in the public sector. In 2011, he joined the Directorate of Climate Action in the European Commission. He was part of the project team that transitioned the EU member state emission trading registries to a consolidated ETS and KP system. He implemented and managed the support operations provided to the member states and ETS users. Breffni has worked in the Voluntary Carbon Market sector since 2019.
