Verra is pleased to announce that current pilot projects seeking registration under the Nature Framework can now start the formal registration process. This is an important milestone in the operationalization of the Nature Framework, an asset methodology under the Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta) Program.

For projects seeking registration under the Nature Framework, Verra is implementing, for the first time, a digital-first approach to project documentation and submission. This illustrates the future of Verra’s approach to project submissions in general, which will enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for project developers and stakeholders.

Launched in October 2024, the Nature Framework enables projects to quantify biodiversity outcomes and generate Nature Credits. The framework aims to incentivize widespread investment in measurable conservation and restoration activities benefiting nature and people.

Beginning in May 2025, existing Nature Framework pilot projects pursuing registration will begin submitting their documentation digitally in the Verra Project Hub. This is a first step toward implementing the digital-first approach and will streamline review processes and overall project cycle timelines.

While the first wave of submissions is limited to pilot projects, Verra expects to open the Nature Framework to all projects in Q4 of 2025. To facilitate the onboarding of additional projects, Verra has prepared a downloadable version of the SD VISta Nature Framework Project Description Template (PDF), as well as video demonstrations of the template (see below). Prospective project proponents are encouraged to consult these resources to see how the template applies the framework’s requirements.
