The proposed methodology applies to project activities that replace diesel-powered vessels and equipment with electric vessels and equipment. Other activities include operating and maintaining electrical boats and related equipment (powered by renewable energy sources) in offshore environments. The proposed methodology applies to all geographical regions with maritime operations.
SUMMARY OF DEVELOPMENT
- The methodology was proposed under an older version of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process (MDRP) (PDF).
- In December 2023, the development of this methodology was put on hold.
- In March 2026, Verra reassessed the priority of methodologies under development and decided to keep this proposal on hold.
- Verra will reassess whether to resume the development of this methodology in Q3 2027.
