Methodology for Black Soldier Fly Larvae Disposing of Organic Waste

The proposed new methodology applies to project activities that avoid GHG emissions by using black soldier fly larvae, an insect, to dispose of organic waste. A variety of organic waste treatment technologies are covered. The proposed methodology is globally applicable.

The methodology idea note was submitted by Vanke Foundation and was reviewed by Verra, as per Section 3.1.6 of the VCS Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.3 (PDF). It was archived on April 16, 2024; Verra has decided to not proceed with this proposal due to an overlap with another existing methodology, CN0087 Methodology for the Avoidance of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Through Composting of Food Waste Using Insect, that is already under development. Vanke Foundation has provided their input during the development of CN0087.
