Verra is honored to have received two Environmental Finance awards for 2022:
- Best GHG Crediting Programme for the Verified Carbon Standard Program
- Best Registry Provider for the Verra Registry
Thank you to everyone who voted. We are honored by the confidence that you place in Verra and are committed to earning it every day.
“Receiving this award is an important sign of the market’s trust in us, a responsibility that we take seriously,” says David Antonioli, CEO. “We are committed to continuing to build out our ability to support market players who use our standards programs to drive finance to help the world to reach critical climate goals and improve people’s well-being.”
At Verra, we work to ensure that our standards programs reflect the latest science and the best-available technology. We are strengthening the capacity of our VVBs, a critical part of our standards programs, and are implementing streamlined processes and tools to optimize our operations. We are expanding the team that engages and works with market stakeholders and are actively engaging in initiatives to increase transparency and confidence in environmental markets.
To date, 1,828 VCS projects in more than 100 countries have reduced or removed over 980 million tonnes of GHG emissions. This is a fraction of what’s needed to help solve the climate emergency, but we believe that our work has transformative potential and look forward to advancing it together with you.
You can read more about this year’s awards in the award announcements on the Environmental Finance website and in a special interview feature with Verra CEO David Antonioli.
This is the tenth time that Verra’s VCS Program has won the award of “Best GHG Crediting Programme” (formerly “Best Voluntary Carbon Standard”). The Verra Registry has won the award of “Best Registry Provider” for the second time in the first two years of its operation.
