Verra and FOREDOR will offer another educational course on carbon markets in the Latin American region. Specifically, the course will focus on the development of forest carbon projects in Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program.
The course (external) will run from July 22 through August 26, 2024.
Verra is the nonprofit behind the world’s leading carbon crediting program, and FOREDOR is a Chilean company dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding last month to kickstart the initiative.
The course will offer participants a comprehensive overview of how to register a forest-based project in Verra’s VCS Program. It will also cover information about voluntary and compliance carbon markets, and transaction procedures in both markets.
Classes will be offered in Spanish and English; simultaneous translation into Spanish will be offered for classes taught in English.
The course speakers have extensive expertise in carbon markets and include consultants, representatives from the private sector, and academics from a broad range of geographic backgrounds (Latin America, North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia).
Verra and FOREDOR first offered a similar course in May 2023. It was attended by 40 participants from 11 countries.
For more information and to register for the course, please visit FOREDOR’s website (external). Registration closes on July 15, 2024.
