The revision to VM0041 Methodology for the Reduction of Enteric Methane Emissions from Ruminants Through the Use of Feed Ingredients, v2.0 is now available. Globally, this type of emissions is responsible for approximately 30% of anthropogenic methane emissions.

The revised methodology significantly increases the potential of this methodology to reduce methane emissions from the digestive processes of ruminant livestock by allowing project proponents to use any type of feed ingredient approved for animal use that is scientifically proven to reduce enteric methane emissions. The new version also includes enhanced evidence requirements and experimental design for establishing the emissions reduction factor (ERF). Finally, it offers new guidance for collecting on-farm data to better reflect the latest best practices in animal sciences.
