Verra is pleased to announce that the Methodology for Time Savings from Improved Cookstoves (ICS) is now open for public comment for 30 days until 30 April 2021.
C Quest Capital, a social impact project developer whose purpose is to transform the lives of families in poor communities around the world, has developed this methodology for the quantification of time saved by replacing inefficient cooking devices with improved cookstoves.
Millions of households across the world still rely on inefficient cooking devices, such as open fire, three-stone fires, and basic charcoal cookstoves. The time required to collect fuel and cook using these inefficient stoves, activities predominantly carried out by women and girls, prevents individuals from engaging in more valuable activities such as income-generation, or self-improvement. Additionally, improved cookstoves decrease the amount of smoke produced while cooking, improving health outcomes.
This methodology calculates the time saved when improved cookstoves replace inefficient cooking devices.
The public comment period for this methodology runs from 31 March to 30 April 2021. Please submit any comments to secretariat@verra.org.
