Verra has published a Request for Proposals (RFP) (PDF) for validation/verification bodies (VVBs) to review a draft module for reduced impact logging in the northern Republic of the Congo. The module, Performance Method for Reduced Impact Logging in the Natural Forest of the Northern Republic of the Congo (module development ID #M0183), would be used with VM0035 Methodology for Improved Forest Management through Reduced Impact Logging in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program.

The module proposes to extend the geographical applicability of VM0035 to include the northern Republic of the Congo. It quantifies the greenhouse gas emission reductions associated with the implementation of reduced impact logging for climate (RIL-C) practices in natural forests of the northern Republic of the Congo, which host several important logging concessions.

The VVB assessment is an integral part of Verra’s methodology development process as set out in sections 3.5 and 6 of the Methodology Development and Review Process, v4.4 (PDF).

The draft module, which is currently open for public consultation, was prepared by The Nature Conservancy (external) and reviewed by Verra. The Nature Conservancy will lead on the VVB assessment process.

Please submit proposals by Wednesday, March 26, 2025, to methodologies@verra.org.

For more information on the scope of work, deliverables, timelines, and requisite skills and qualifications, please see the Request for Proposals for Validation/Verification Body Assessment of Proposed New Module for Reduced Impact Logging in Natural Forest of the Northern Republic of the Congo (PDF). Verra anticipates selecting a VVB by April 2, 2025. The VVB assessment is expected to start in April and to last approximately two to three months.
